Development of the Cuff Pilot™ has been prompted by the weight
of evidence that suggests that cuff pressures in laryngeal masks should always be monitored. Scientific papers have shown an increasing number of adverse effects from over inflation that could lead to injury.

Since the introduction of Laryngeal Mask Airways, 60cm H20 has been the recognised optimal maximum cuff pressure. The 'green' zone indicates a pressure range of 40-60cm H20, with the top of the 'green' zone being 60cm H20.
